Mother and daughter thank 26 year old ‘lucky’ numbers for $822,853 Lotto win

A mother and daughter from the Great Southern region have claimed their $822,853 Division 1 Saturday Lotto prize from the weekend.

The mother changed up the pair’s weekly Lotto ritual by buying their Saturday Lotto ticket from Katanning Lottery Centre three days earlier than usual.

Each week for the past 26 years, the lucky duo have purchased two lines of Lotto consisting of a line of odd numbers and a line of birthday numbers. This weekend, their odd numbers came through.

“I check my tickets every Saturday evening and I originally thought we had five numbers, which has happened a few times before, but then I looked again. There were all six!” said the mother.

“I couldn’t sleep that night I was so shocked. I put the winning ticket in my hand bag which I placed underneath my pillow for safe keeping.”

The winners, who celebrated their win with family over ice-cream, are now planning their Lotto dream list.

“Our prayers have been answered; this prize will really set us up for life. We’re going to share it with our family and I’m going to take my best friend on a long overdue holiday,” said the mother.

It’s not only WA’s Lotto winners who benefit when you play with Lotterywest, the local community benefits too with over $281 million going back to support WA last financial year.

Rainbow Childcare Centre Incorporated in Albany received the benefits of those who play Lotterywest games with a $15,357 Lotterywest grant last month. These funds will be used towards resources that will create a positive play environment and enhance early learning.
