Darling Downs couple claim Division 1 in Super66

It was case of perseverance paying off for a Darling Downs couple who took out the whole national Division 1 prize in Super66 on Saturday night.

The couple have been playing Super66 every week for about the past 14 years after following the advice of a Lotterywest retailer who told them they could win big with Super66.

That advice has paid off in a big way, with the lucky winners scooping $76,228 in Saturday’s night draw and claiming the title of the first WA players to win Division 1 in Super66 this year.

The couple, who purchased their ticket from Byford Newsagency, checked their numbers on Sunday afternoon after seeing a message on the Byford Newsagency Facebook page saying they’d sold a Division 1 winner.

“After we checked our ticket and realised we had won, I just stood there in complete shock while everyone around me was jumping and down,” said the wife. “And my husband burst into tears! We just couldn’t believe it was real”.

The winnings will enable the couple to upgrade the caravan they take on their annual family holiday and help them with their family business.

“It’s just such an incredible feeling to know that we can get our new caravan without having to worry about our finances,” said the woman.

“It’s like a huge weight has been lifted off our shoulders to know that we’ll have some money behind us, which we’ve never had before.”

After a sleepless night worrying about the losing the winning ticket, the couple arrived at Lotterywest head office first thing Monday morning to claim their prize.

“We’ll definitely be registering our tickets from now on!” said the winner.

Lotterywest is still waiting to hear from the three Division 1 winners in Saturday’s $20 million Superdraw who each won $1,333,333.

It’s not only WA Lotto winners who benefit following a draw, so does the entire community with around a third of every dollar spent on Lotterywest Games going back to support the local community.

Earlier this year, the Serpentine-Jarrahdale Grammar School Police Cadets Unit received some of this support with a $15,000 Lotterywest Grant. The funds were used towards equipment to support the youth development activities of the Serpentine-Jarrahdale Grammar School Police Rangers

OZ Lotto and Powerball jackpots worth $50 million this week
This week boasts many more chances to scoop a prize with tomorrow night's OZ Lotto draw offering a $15 million jackpot and Thursday night's Powerball draw reaching a $35 million jackpot.

WA players have until 6pm on the night of the draw to purchase their tickets from Lotterywest retailers, through Play Online or by downloading the Lotterywest App.
