Armadale family’s $10 million OZ Lotto life-changing win

A young family from Armadale has claimed Tuesday night’s $10 million Division 1 OZ Lotto prize won on their ticket purchased from Haynes Good News Agency in Brookdale (City of Armadale).

The new multi-millionaires said they’d heard the news reports of the big win but never imagined they were holding the winning ticket.

“We were absolutely stunned; in utter shock! We’d heard the ticket had been sold at the same store we get our weekly Lotto from but never in a million years did we think it was our ticket! There were lots of tears and we haven’t slept since learning of the news last night,” said the family.

The young family who have several children said financially things had been tight.

“We follow a very strict budget and live pay to pay. We were preparing for a basic Christmas because we couldn’t afford anything extravagant, but that’s all about to change now. This amount is incredible. We can do anything,” they said.

“The biggest thing is we can stop working so hard and be stress free. This money guarantees our children a good start in life and they’ll have everything they need including a great education.”

Other plans high on the Lotto wish list included a family adventure to Disneyland and their dream home.

“We’ve been looking at houses all night and are blown away by what we can afford. It will have all the bells and whistles – two storeys, a pool and even a new family dog,” they said.

The $10 million prize is the second largest to be won in WA this year. It follows a $40 million win in March and contributes to the tally of 83 Division 1 Lotto and 1st Prize winners produced in WA this year.

Lotto players will have another chance to win big in tonight’s $15 million Powerball jackpot. Then on New Year’s Eve, the $31 million Saturday Lotto Megadraw will be offered.

Tickets are available until 6pm on the day of the draw in-store, through Lotterywest Play Online or by downloading the Lotterywest App.
