Another Success-ful weekend for WA

Luck has struck in Success over the weekend, with a mystery Western Australian now holding a ticket worth over $670,000 – just days away from the largest Powerball jackpot in history, worth $100 million.

The unclaimed ticket was sold from Cockburn Gateway Lottery Centre in Success and was one of six Division One tickets sold across the country.

Lotterywest spokesperson Pina Compagnone said the suburb of Success had been the State’s luckiest location so far this year.

“Success has produced a trifecta of Division One wins and is our current Lotto hot spot,” she said.

“The name Success really does bring locals good luck!”

Owner of Cockburn Gateway Lottery Centre, Robyn McDermott, said she was thrilled to be celebrating their store’s first Division One win and to be producing tickets in the State’s hot spot.

“It’s a fantastic feeling to get a Division One under our belt, as well as officially being WA’s luckiest suburb!” she said.

“We’re definitely on a winning roll and ready to make history with this Thursday’s Powerball too.”

“With all this luck, where else would you need to go?” she joked.

More than 89,000 other WA players took home a prize across the other Divisions in the Saturday Lotto draw, including seven lucky locals who each pocketed over $9,000 in Division Two prizes.

WA is gearing up for a busy week and for what could be a record breaking Thursday with Powerball’s $100 million jackpot. The largest jackpot won in Australian history is $70 million – won in 2013 and 2016.

Tickets for the upcoming $100 million Powerball jackpot are available until 6pm this Thursday from Lotterywest in-store, online or via the app.
