Joondanna siblings celebrate $1.3 million Lotto win

A brother-sister duo from Joondanna have been revealed as Western Australia’s latest millionaires after the State produced yet another Division 1 win on the weekend.

The siblings, aged in their 40s, said they were delighted to pocket the $1.3 million win in the lead up to Christmas.

“Family Christmas this year just got a whole lot better,” the man laughed.

While part of their winnings had been earmarked for a family holiday overseas, they said their first purchase as newly-minted millionaires would be a frame to display their winning ticket.

“This ticket’s going straight to the pool room,” the man said.

“Pity it’s got lipstick marks all over it – my sister hasn’t stopped kissing the ticket since we found out we’d won,” he laughed.

Lotterywest spokeswoman Chloe Lawler said the siblings had capped off a huge November for the organisation.

“They mark our fifth Division 1 win in less than three weeks – a feat that is unheard of in the world of Lotto,” Ms Lawler said.

With just one month to go until Lotterywest’s biggest draw of the year, Ms Lawler said the organisation was hopeful November’s winning streak was a sign of things to come.

“Our $30 million Megadraw takes place on 30 December and with a strong number of Division 1 wins under our belt we’re convinced a West Australian will take it out,” she said.

“Megadraw fever is already starting to spread with punters purchasing tickets well ahead of time,” she added.

Tickets in Lotterywest’s $30 million Megadraw are available now in-store, online or by downloading the app.
