$2.1 million Lotto win strikes Success and Bicton

The weekend’s $8 million Saturday Lotto jackpot was kind to local players with two of the nation’s four Division 1 prizes being won in Western Australia.

The State’s winning tickets, each worth $2,178,515, were sold at Melville Newspower in Bicton and Gateways News and Lottery Centre in Success.

It’s been less than one year since Gateways News and Lottery Centre last sold a multi-million dollar winning Lotto ticket - a $23.3 million Powerball prize which was claimed by a young, engaged Cockburn couple a month out from Christmas last year.

“People ask why we’re so lucky but I think it’s simple, it’s all in the name of our suburb – Success!” said the owner of Gateways News and Lottery Centre, Robyn McDermott.

“We’re always excited when we can push the right button on the Lotto terminal. There’s a real buzz in store and the staff are bubbling.”

“The only Division 1 prize we haven’t sold yet is in OZ Lotto, so with our track record it must be near! Tomorrow night’s OZ Lotto draw is at $40 million so our fingers are crossed we can keep the success flowing and sell another big winner then.”

Owner of Melville Newspower Damian Loughnan, is just as excited after his store sold WA’s other Division 1 winning ticket from the weekend’s Saturday Lotto draw.

“Having a jackpot in Saturday Lotto was exciting; but to then sell one of the winning tickets was wonderful! There’s a lot of luck around WA,” said Damian.

“We’re encouraging all our customers to get checking their tickets and we’re focusing on our next big win.”

Lotterywest is yet to hear from WA’s newest Lotto multi-millionaires.

Looking for your next big chance to win? More excitement will surround the nation tomorrow night when OZ Lotto’s equal largest jackpot for the year goes up for grabs!

The $40 million jackpot is set to capture the imagination of Lotto players across the State with an estimated 350,000 tickets to be sold in WA.

Lotterywest is encouraging players to get their tickets early to avoid the busy day expected tomorrow in the lead up to the draw.

Tickets are available until 6pm tomorrow in-store from Lotterywest retailers, through Play Online or via the Lotterywest App.
