Sporting Groups
Lotterywest may support not-for-profit sporting and recreational groups with community projects. In particular we support projects that help break down the barriers to community involvement.
Examples of Lotterywest’s support for community projects include:
- Contributing towards the construction of a multipurpose facility that will be used by both sporting and community groups in a small regional town. Lotterywest often supports the aspects associated with broad community usage such as a crèche or meeting rooms.
- Resourcing volunteers and assisting with the staging of the opening and closing festivities of a major regional sporting event, e.g. the community concert held during the Busselton Jetty Swim.
- Starting a social soccer program for families from North Africa, allowing players to give each other settlement and cultural support.
- Hosting dance workshops with young Indigenous people in an isolated community to encourage healthy lifestyles and greater community participation.
- Providing development, support, and networking opportunities for people with disabilities to participate in community-based recreation.
