FAWNA: Caring for Wildlife
FAWNA (Fostering and Assistance for Wildlife Needing Assistance) members care for injured and orphaned wildlife in the South West, usually taking them into their own homes. The members are not only unpaid but usually even pay for specialised equipment and costly wildlife food themselves.
The organisation, based in Busselton has eight Emergency Care Centres located across the South West region. A Lotterywest grant towards a new shed has enabled FAWNA to not only provide a storage facility to house its Emergency Rescue Caravan and wide range of specialised rehabilitation equipment but it is also being used as a venue to host a series of workshops relating to the care of rescued wildlife.
President of FAWNA, Jeff Falconer says “The shed we have been able to construct through this support is a fantastic acquisition for the FAWNA group to assist the community and its wildlife”.
