Building skills and ambition with bikes

Dismantle uses bike mechanic programs to engage and mentor at-risk youth. Using the bike activities as the 'hook', Dismantle works to realise the ambitions of young people who are disengaged from mainstream education.

A Lotterywest grant of $36,932 towards a van has helped Dismantle with transport and logistics, resulting in more bicycle rescue and repair programs being delivered for young people.

Pat Ryan, CEO of Dismantle said “Lotterywest grant support means we can function as a professional program. Having the van means our reach extends to regional and remote areas, so our capacity to support at-risk youth in WA has grown an incredible amount.”

“It is great to see our programs improve school attendance and reduce recidivism amongst juvenile offenders.”
