Conservation of cultural heritage
Lotterywest values our State's unique heritage. That’s why we support organisations that not only cherish the past but have an eye on the future.
When to apply
There are annual closing dates for Conservation of cultural heritage grant applications.
APPLICATIONS ACCEPTED FROM: 8 September 2012
CLOSING DATE: 10 November 2012
Who can apply?
These grants are available to not-for-profit organisations and local government authorities.
What can we support?
Grants are provided for urgent conservation work on places or objects of significant heritage value. This can include the preparation of conservation or treatment plans. We particularly encourage projects where the community will be able to access or use the place once it is conserved. Grants for works will usually only be considered if a conservation or treatment plan has been completed.
Examples of what our grants have helped include:
- Preparation of plans to guide future conservation work on a place such as a former school or courthouse
- Conservation of moveable items held in community museum collections, such as vehicles and photographs
- Preservation of buildings and places which have heritage value
- Protection of gardens, cemeteries and landscapes that have an important place in our history
We also support memorials that commemorate our culture and heritage. Please refer to our Community spaces grants or call us for further information.
What we look for:
- Community benefit and significance
- Community access and support
- Skills and capability to carry out the project
- Planning and project management (before, during and after)
- Adherence with conservation practices and standards
- Consultation with stakeholder
- Consent under the Aboriginal Heritage Act (if works may impact on an Aboriginal heritage site)
Documents we need:
- A completed Lotterywest Grant Application Form
- Your latest Annual Report if you have one, or AGM minutes if you don’t and the most recent audited financial statements
- A copy of your Constitution
