Equipment, Infrastructure and Camps

Advancing Participation in Community Life

Southern Edge ArtsThese grants aim to respond to a wide range of needs and circumstances by supporting:

  • Equipment and minor capital works for groups who have open enrolments and encourage broad community involvement in their activities, particularly for people who face barriers to participation. Activities many include:
    • Theatrical, dance or musical groups who provide public performances.
    • Craft or hobby groups who have public open days.
    • Organisations involved in creative writing, hobbies or other cultural interests who hold skill sharing workshops.
  • Initiatives such as camps and day outings that aim to overcome barriers for people who would otherwise not have the opportunity to participate in this type of experience.   Organisations may apply to Lotterywest to assist with the cost of accommodation, food and transport for participants, volunteers and carers. In some instances other costs associated with the camp or day outing may also be considered.

The types of proposals that have previously been supported include:

  • A kiln and pottery wheel for a pottery group to enable skill sharing workshops.
  • Desks and chairs for a stamp collecting group who trade stamps with the broad community.
  • Fencing for a steam engine interest group who display model steam engine’s at shopping centres.
  • Costumes for an ethnic dance ensemble that provide public performances.
  • A data projector for a gem and mineral club who hold public open days.
  • A camp for young Indigenous people, along with elders to participate in a range of experiences that will build friendships, cultural understanding of their ancestors and develop a sense of pride and self worth.
  • A series of day outings for young people with a disability that provides opportunities to learn new life skills, foster independence and increase self esteem, which will encourage ongoing participation within the broader community
