Advancing Participation in Community Life

Lotterywest may provide grants for aspects of community buildings, which will be used by a cross-section of the broad community and act as a focus for community interaction and involvement.

Lotterywest will only provide a grant towards those components of the building which provide a venue for broad based community activity and for which there are not alternative sources of funding. For example, community meeting rooms, crèche facilities, community training rooms etc.

Community buildings may include the non-sport aspects of a multi-purpose sport and recreation centre, the non-arts specific aspects of an arts facility, Department of Community Development funded community or neighbourhood centres, community halls, etc.

Centres may be relatively small (e.g. a community hall) or large (e.g. a purpose built regional facility).

Where appropriate, Lotterywest encourages 'multi use' buildings that reflect a coordinated approach, accommodate a range of needs and act as a focus for community interaction and involvement.

Grants are not provided for ongoing maintenance or operating costs of facilities such as rates and cleaning. 

All applications must be supported by sound planning and include a

• Strategic Plan
• Needs Assessment and Accommodation or Facility Plan
• Business Case and Feasibility Study
• Management Plan
• Project Plan

Applicants should secure contributions from relevant sources, and contribute from their own resources according to their capacity.
