Strategic Plan

Why do it?

Outlines key business outcome areas and high level strategies to achieve outcomes.

Sets direction and guides all other planning and activities

  • Why you exist (mission)
  • What you are trying to achieve (vision)
  • How you can make the most difference (strategies)
  • Environmental analysis (social, economic, political etc)
  • Analysis of your organisation’s strengths, weaknesses opportunities and threats
  • Measures, goals and timelines

Application

Endorsed by Board/ Committee for a 3-5 year period and reviewed annually.

Used internally to focus work resources and effort and to monitor and evaluate organisational strategies in achieving outcomes

Business Plan

Why do it?

Details organisational financial and operational objectives for the financial year and how these will be achieved.

  • Allows for measurement and monitoring

Application

Approved annually by Board/Committee and used to focus work resources and effort and to monitor and evaluate organisational performance against budgets and targets.

Project Plan

  • Outlines project objectives, detailing specific initiatives and activities to achieve objectives
  • Identifies and minimises risk

Application

Developed by Business/Project Manager and reviewed at key milestones to implement resources and effort and to monitor outcomes against plan
