Handy hints

Preparing an application

  • Whilst we cannot prepare your application for you, a member of our Grants team working for your area is happy to talk about your proposal and provide information to help you prepare and develop the application.  The following provides details that you might find helpful when applying for a grant.

Documents we need

  • Don’t forget to attach your constitution and latest Annual Report if you have one or AGM minutes if you don't
  • If your group is unincorporated, there are other things we need from you.  Go to what we need for more information
  • Items over $3,000 need to be supported by at least two written quotes.  Items under $3,000 need one written estimate, advertised price or quote per item.  If obtaining quotes is difficult or not suitable please talk to us

Bank account details

  • Make sure that the bank account details you provide are those of your organisation’s main operating account

ABN and GST details

  • Double check your ABN details and GST status
  • Don’t include the GST in your request.  If your organisation is not registered for GST and would find it difficult to pay the tax, please indicate this in the application  form when completing your budget.  We you can talk with you about including the GST component of goods or services as part of our assessment.

Tendered and contracted services

  • If your request relates to a service that is or may be subject to a tendered or contracted process, it is very important that you read our information on tendered or contracted services and contact us before applying or submitting tender documentation

Referee contacts

  • Referee contacts must be independent from your organisation.  They must be aware of and able to speak about your organisation and proposal

Details about your service

  • If your organisation provides more than one service or operates in more than one location, clarify which service and area this grant request applies to
  • If your organisation benefits the community in more than one way, describe all of  these ways and the approximate number of people who benefit
  • You don’t have to give exact numbers of your organisation’s volunteers or members, approximates are fine
  • If your organisation has restrictions on becoming a member, please tell us why

The grant budget

  • The grant budget needs to detail the overall project cost, and clearly indicate what items you are requesting our support for
