Application Must Haves

“Must Have” requirements when submitting a grant application

It is important that you provide the required information for your application to be accepted and processed. Our assessment of your application may be delayed, if you do not provide the required information. The following Application Checklist provides further details.

If the grant you are applying for will support a service that is, has or maybe subject to tender or contracted proceses you must check our Policy and if appropriate contact us before applying.

Leave Time for Assessment

It takes at least 4 months for your application to be assessed and for you to be advised of the outcome. It is important that you allow enough time between the lodgement of your application and the commencement of your project.

Grant Limits

The following grant limits apply when preparing your application:

  • Organisations not legally incorporated or not registered for GST can receive single or multiple grants with a combined total of up to$15,000 in any 1 financial year.
  • Applications should be for more than $1,000.
  • Limits may apply for different types of grants. Go to Grant Opportunities for links to individual pages with specific details for particular grant opportunities.

Application Checklist

Ensure the information outlined in the checklist is provided in your application.

  • Completed and signed Application Form (an original signature of the legally delegated authority as detailed in the Application Form is required). Signing this document also indicates your organisation's agreement to the Lotterywest Grant Conditions.
  • Relevant Additional Information Form (if applicable).
  • Items over $3,000 – 2 written quotes from different suppliers per item
  • Items under $3,000 - written estimate or 1 written quote per item
  • Low value, miscellaneous items can be grouped together (to $1, 000).
  • Detailed budget for grant (in the Application Form or Additional Information Form)
  • Referee contacts (must be independent from your organisation)
  • Bank account details (must be main operating account only)
  • ABN status and details (if you have an ABN)
  • GST status

Additional Documents:

  • Latest Annual Report (if you have one, AGM minutes if you don't)

Also, if you are incorporated:

  • Most recent audited financial statements, for both your organisation and the service for which the grant relates
    • NB. In some instances Lotterywest will accept financial statements that are prepared by the Treasurer but are not audited. Please discuss with a member of our grants team prior to submitting your application
  • Copy of your Constitution or equivalent
  • Copy of your Certificate of Incorporation or equivalent

...or, if you are not incorporated:

  • Minutes of your last two Board or Committee meetings
  • Any other documentation that provides evidence of your organisation’s role and function (e.g. Annual report, constitution, press clippings)
  • Copy of a recent Bank Statement, as an official document confirming your organisation’s name
  • Most recent Financial Statements (audited accounts, bank statement or Treasurer’s report)
