What is a System?

A Lotto System is a way to play lots of games in each draw, without filling in lots of playslips. The more games you play in each draw, the better your chances of winning.

There are two types of System games

  • More numbers - These increase your chances of winning by giving you more numbers in each game and therefore more chances to win.
  • Fewer numbers - These increase your chances of winning by reducing the number of correct Winning Numbers you need to have. That is, you don't need to get all 6 numbers to win Division One.

How can I play Systems?

Systems can be played by selecting your own numbers on a playslip or as a Slikpik. You can also purchase a share of a syndicate that is a system entry.

Systems for Saturday, Monday and Wednesday Lotto

More numbers
Systems 7 through to 20 increase the amount of numbers you play in a game. For example to win Division One, you need six Winning Numbers. If you purchase a System 8 ticket, you get to choose eight numbers instead of the usual six, giving you more chances to match the Winning Numbers drawn.

Fewer numbers
A System 4 or 5 increases your chances of winning a prize by reducing the amount of correct Winning Numbers you need. For example to win Division One, you need six Winning Numbers. If you purchase a System 4 ticket you choose only four numbers and are guaranteed the remaining two Winning Numbers.

Systems for OZ Lotto

More numbers
Systems 8 through to 20 increase the amount of numbers you play in a game. For example to win Division One, you need seven Winning Numbers. If you purchase a System 9 ticket, you get to choose nine numbers instead of the usual seven, giving you more chances to match the Winning Numbers drawn.

Fewer numbers
A System 4, 5 or 6 increases your chances of winning a prize by reducing the amount of correct Winning Numbers you need. For example to win Division One, you need to match seven Winning Numbers. If you purchase a System 5 ticket you choose only five numbers and are guaranteed the remaining two Winning Numbers.

Systems for Powerball

More numbers
Systems 7 through to 20 increase the amount of numbers you play in a game. You still have to choose one Powerball for each game.

Fewer numbers
Systems 3 to 5 increase your chances of winning by reducing the number of correct Winning Numbers you need. With Systems 3, you only have to get three Winning Numbers and the Powerball to win Division 1.

Powerpik
A Powerpik System entry contains all 20 numbers in the Powerball barrel. All you need to do is match the six Winning Numbers drawn from barrel A.

    • More numbers – Powerpik System 7 to 15 allow you more numbers in each draw and more chances to win. You don't need to match the Powerball number because a Powerpik does this for you.
    • Fewer numbers – Powerpik Systems 4 to 5 reduces the amount of correct Winning Numbers you need. For example: With a Systems 4 Powerpik, you only have to get 4 Winning Numbers from barrel A to win Division 1. You don't need to match the Powerball number because a Powerpik does this for you.

Systems for Soccer Pools

More numbers
Systems 7 through to 20 increase the amount of numbers you play in a game.

Fewer numbers

Winning more than one prize

With a Systems ticket you can win multiple prizes with a single entry. For example, let's say you purchase a Saturday Lotto System 7 entry containing seven numbers 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7.

The Winning Numbers drawn are 1, 2, 3, 10, 11 and 12 and the two Supplementary Numbers are 6 and 7.

You will be able to match three Winning Numbers and two Supplementary Numbers. If you were to write out every combination of the seven games a System 7 entry gives you, you'd find that you have won four Division 5 prizes and three Division 6 prizes. See the table below.

Winning Numbers: 1, 2, 3, 10, 11 and 12
Supplementary Numbers: 6 and 7
Your Numbers: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7
