Lotterywest support to Perth International Arts Festival, as specified in our Act, has been managed through annual grants since 1992. In 2008/09 we provided a grant of $4.5 million towards the 2009 Festival which presented a remarkably diverse and high quality program through the entertaining media of literature, music, dance, theatre and the visual arts.

For three weeks every summer, the Festival program gives West Australians a welcome opportunity to see events of international stature and to engage with the world's creative thinkers. Under the current Artistic Director, Shelagh Magazda, it also takes a leadership role in the West Australian arts sector, commissioning new local works to be showcased during the Festival.

The Festival strives to reach the hearts and minds of every West Australian and to grow its audience base by establishing a vibrant buzz in the broader community. Through free and subsidised events, pod casts, broadcasts, state of the art disability access technology and the web, our ongoing support ensures the whole community can engage and enjoy a host of exciting Festival experiences.
