Jurien Bay's new $5 million man

A man in his 50's from Jurien Bay has today presented a Division One winning ticket at Lotterywest head office, to claim the entire $5 million jackpot prize from this week's Monday Lotto Superdraw.

On Tuesday, news spread quickly through the small town on WA's Coral Coast with locals wondering who owned the multi-million dollar Monday Lotto ticket that was sold at Jurien Bay Newsagency.

However, the winner himself had solved the town's Lotto mystery before locals even woke up on Tuesday morning.

The man, who realised he was holding the Division One winning ticket on Monday night during the draw broadcast, said he didn't scream or jump up and down with excitement, but kept himself very relaxed.

"I knew I'd win one day," he said.

The man told Lotterywest that the prize money would "ease the pressure" and be spent helping his family, buying himself a new house in Jurien Bay and a new car.

He then said he would return to normal life.

"I'll put the rest away and go back to work."

As some Lotterywest retailers may be closed for the public holiday on Monday, WA Lotto players are advised to get their Monday Lotto tickets for next week by 6pm this Saturday. Players can check with their local Lotterywest retailer for more information.

32 cents in every dollar spent on Lottery games in WA is directed back to WA health, sports, arts and a large number of community groups.

The Jurien Bay Playgroup will soon receive a Lotterywest grant for the purchase of a shade sail and play equipment for the benefit of children and mothers of Jurien Bay.
