Generous Rockingham man to double child sponsorship with Lotto win
A Rockingham man who sponsors a child living in a developing country has vowed to double his contribution after claiming a Division One win of just over $400,000 from the weekend's Saturday Lotto draw.
The man, in his 30's, was prompted to check his ticket after reading an online news article yesterday afternoon.
The article announced that someone who had bought their ticket from St Clair Pharmacy & News in Port Kennedy had won Division One, but was still yet to come forward to claim their prize.
The man proceeded to check his ticket against the numbers on the Lotterywest website, when he realised that on one line, they all matched.
"I screamed like a little girl," the man said of his reaction.
A small win last week had lead the man to purchase the 6 game ticket; an investment that paid off.
The man was one of two WA Division One winners in the weekend's Saturday Lotto draw, with the other ticket won by a retailer run syndicate from Market City Newsagency & Pharmacy in Canningvale.
32 cents in every dollar spent on Lottery games in WA is directed back to WA health, sports, arts and a large number of community events including the Kings Park Wildflower Festival, which runs until the end of September.
WA Lotto players are encouraged to play responsibly. The cost of a ticket can be shared by joining with family, friends or work colleagues to form a syndicate.
