Week starts on winning note for WA Lotto players

A Canningvale syndicate and a Port Kennedy Lotto player are set to start the week on a winning note after each scooping a Division One prize of just over $400,000 from the weekend's Saturday Lotto draw.

The winning tickets were sold at Market City Newsagency & Pharmacy in Canningvale and St Clair Pharmacy & News in Port Kennedy.

Fatima Khan, owner of Market City Newsagency & Pharmacy, presented the winning ticket at Lotterywest head office this morning on behalf of a 10 person syndicate.

Ms Khan had the pleasure of contacting most of the syndicate members to inform them that their $14 investment had turned into $40,000 overnight.

"They are so happy and all want to shout us out to dinner!" she said.

The winning ticket from St Clair Pharmacy & News, Port Kennedy is still to be claimed.

Double chance to win $20 million this week

WA Lotto players have two chances to win a $20 million Division One prize this week in both Tuesday night's OZ Lotto draw and the weekend's Saturday Superdraw.

The last time a $20 million Division One amount was on offer, a Lynwood man and a couple from the South West shared in the prize pool; both intending to share their prize money with family and pay off debts.

According to Lotterywest spokesperson Jodi Eastman, paying off debts and sharing with family are the most common spending plans of prizes won by Division One Lotto winners. However she explains that there have been some winners in the past whose spending plans are a little out of the ordinary.

"Just last year, we had a woman who told us of her plans for a trip to Bora Bora, while another winner said he'd be taking his first holiday in 40 years,

"Then we had a male member of a syndicate who said there would be no fast women, or fast cars in his spending spree, while his female colleague told us how she wouldn't say no to a Monaro, probably pink!"

32 cents in every dollar spent on Lottery games in WA is directed back to WA health, sports, arts and a large number of community events including the Kings Park Wildflower Festival, which runs until the end of September.
