Wife to buy husband's dream car with Lotto win

A woman in her 20's from Perth's northern suburbs will fulfil her husband's ultimate car fantasy with her $685,486.45 Saturday Lotto win.

The woman said romantic dates and special occasions with her husband always finished with a trip to a particular car dealership where the man would longingly look at his 'fantasy car' and dream of the day he could buy it.

The woman said when she questioned her husband about why they would repeatedly end romantic evenings at the dealership, he replied that it was the "perfect way" to end a beautiful evening.

"He has always wanted this particular car - forever! I asked him if he still wanted it and he said he wanted it so bad!" said the winner of her offer to her husband to buy him his dream car with the prize money.

The woman said she was not a regular Lotto player and could "count on one hand the number of times I've bought a Lotto ticket."  She bought her winning Slikpik 12, costing just $7.20 from Lakeside Lottery Centre in Joondalup.

The woman said that while she never normally went to the Joondalup Shopping Centre, she dropped in to buy a new outfit for a job interview and a card for her Mother's birthday.

When a man in front of her in the line bought a Lotto ticket, it prompted her to make a spur of the moment decision to do the same.

The winning ticket had been in a brown paper bag, along with the birthday card she purchased, until last night when she checked the ticket after a family member told her there had been a Division One winner sold in Joondalup.

The woman said that while her husband "already has a shopping list" of how to spend the prize money, she was more circumspect.

"I know it sounds boring, but definitely the most exciting thing for me is to be able to clear our mortgage" she said.

She also added that she would use some of the money to take an overseas trip with her Mother - "business class!"

Yesterday an elderly couple from Perth's northern suburbs claimed a $677,989.61 Division One prize from a Saturday Lotto draw on November 8.

The couple, who have been married for 50 years, bought their winning Slikpik 12 ticket from Major Luck Lottery Centre in Clarkson.

The wife checked the Lotto ticket on Saturday and admitted to bursting into tears when she broke the news of their Lotto win to her husband.

"I thought she'd pranged the car!" said the man of his reaction to her tears.
