Lotto luck spreads north and south of river

The weekend's Saturday Lotto luck has covered Perth from north to south with two WA Division One Lotto winners from different sides of the river in Perth.

From six Division One winning tickets sold nationally, one was sold north of Perth at Lakeside Lottery Centre in Joondalup while the other WA winner was sold in the southern Perth suburb of Leeming at Leeming Lottery Centre & Newsagency.

All Division One winning tickets will make their owners $685,486.45 richer.

It's third time lucky in 2008 for Lakeside Lottery Centre in Joondalup. The outlet's three Division One Lotto winners, all sold on the Saturday Lotto game, mean it can now claim the honour of selling the most Division One winning tickets for the year so far.

Lakeside share the honour with Armadale City Newsagency; the only other outlet in WA with three Division One winners sold so far this year.

"Well we've got the hat-trick!" was Lakeside Lottery Centre owner John Kent's response to the news his outlet had sold another Division One winning ticket.

"It's fantastic. Hopefully we can sell even more winners by the end of the year with the big Megadraw coming up" he said.

At Leeming Lottery Centre, the win was also cause for great celebration with the outlet selling its first Division One winner since October 2004.

"We've had three in the seven years I've been here and for a small outlet like ours, that's a pretty good strike rate!" said owner Colin Doyle who thought his outlet was also due for a "big win" in OZ or Powerball.

WA has now sold 89 winners for the year to date who have shared in nearly $140 million worth of prize money.
